
ZARENA Champions Regional Clean Energy Collaboration at Malawi National Energy Conference
The Zambia Renewable Energy Association – ZARENA was delighted to participate in the recently concluded National Energy Conference in Malawi hosted by our regional partners,Renewable Energy Industries Association of Malawi (REIAMA) .
The event brought together thought leaders, practitioners, and policymakers to explore scalable clean energy solutions and inclusive growth opportunities across Southern Africa.
Representing ZARENA Eng. Dr. Kakoma Chilala – Bowa,Strategy & Implementation Lead, contributed to two powerful sessions.
(a) Partnerships and Investment Opportunities, highlighting Zambia’s scalable clean energy projects, education and research collaborations, and ZARENA’s growing role in regional energy transformation.
Dr. Bowa also spoke in the session on (b)Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in the Energy Sector: Policy and Action, addressing gender disparities in energy access and employment,emphasizing ZARENA’s work in promoting inclusive energy programs, mentorship, and enterprise models that empower women and youth, ensuring no one is left behind in the clean energy transition.
In parallel, Eng.Dylan Chewe,ZARENA’s Renewable Energy Specialist, joined a dynamic discussion under the Southern Africa Working Group on “The Role of National Energy Associations in Promoting Energy Access and Socio-Economic Development.” highlighting ZARENA’s coordination with government and private sector actors to support energy access and inclusive growth.
ZARENA is honoured to be part of the SG Global Renewables Centre – GRC Network, working alongside national associations to shape a cleaner, more equitable energy future for the region.
