Site Visit to Chitandika Mini-Grid
In an ongoing effort to propel shared learning, offer networks and resources that enhance global citizenship and enable increased deployment of sustainable energy.The Zambia Renewable Energy Association – ZARENA in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde supported by the Scottish Government had the privilege to visit the chitandika mini-grid site.
The site developed and operated by ENGIE is a pioneering project in the country, providing clean and reliable energy solutions to rural communities in the region. The opportunity served as an insightful learning experience for the practical implementation and operation of a successful mini-grid system.
Various stakeholders in the Zambian renewable energy space from financier, academia, government, energy regulators etc where in attendance as they:
• Gained insights into the technologies, social impacts, and economic benefits of mini-grids
• Learned from the experiences of ENGIE Zambia’s project team and technical experts
• Understood the challenges, solutions, and best practices in mini-grid development and operation.
