Kazungula Water Project | Commissioned Under the GRC Program
As part of ZARENA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, the Kazungula Water Project has been successfully commissioned to support climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods in rural Zambia.
Implemented by the Zambia Renewable Energy Association – ZARENA Renewable Energy Association (ZARENA) and funded by the Scottish Government through the Global Renewables Center (GRC) Program, this project falls under the Solar for Climate Resilience and Productive Uses (S4CRPU) initiative.
Now operational, the project provides solar-powered water pumping systems that improve access to clean water for households, irrigation, and livestock in drought-affected communities of Kazungula District.
The project also featured targeted capacity-building activities, empowering local farmers and youth through:
• Crop management training
• Irrigation management sessions
• On-site practical demonstrations on maintaining solar panels and irrigation systems
This initiative reflects ZARENA’s commitment to community empowerment, climate action, and sustainable development through clean energy innovation.
